Certifications & Compliance
Marine Gas Oil (MGO) is a pure distillate marine fuel used in main engines, auxiliary engines and boilers. Because it contains no residual components, MGO is the default choice for vessels without scrubbers operating inside Emission Control Areas (ECAs). XRT Group arranges MGO bunker stems at Houston and Fujairah for shipowners, operators and charterers.
Specification
MGO is supplied to the ISO 8217 DMA category. Key DMA limits include kinematic viscosity of 2.000–6.000 cSt at 40°C, density of 890 kg/m³ maximum at 15°C, and flash point of 60°C minimum. Our offered grade carries 0.10% sulfur maximum. Independent testing by Bureau Veritas or Intertek can be arranged on the MARPOL delivered sample.
Sulfur Compliance
Under MARPOL Annex VI, ships inside ECAs must burn fuel with no more than 0.10% sulfur. Outside ECAs, the IMO limit is 0.50% m/m, down from 3.5%, from 1 January 2020. A 0.10% MGO therefore meets both limits. That lets a vessel run one fuel across ECA and non-ECA legs without switching.
Bunkering Locations
Houston serves the US Gulf and the North American ECA. Fujairah is one of the world's largest bunkering hubs, serving Middle East and Indian Ocean routes. Delivery is by barge alongside, or at berth where port rules allow. Each delivery comes with a Bunker Delivery Note (BDN) and a sealed MARPOL sample.
Pricing & Contracting
Prices are referenced to Platts bunker assessments for the delivery port. Stem size, delivery window and credit terms set the final price, which is quoted on request. All counterparties clear FATF-aligned AML and KYC screening before a stem is confirmed.
