Certifications & Compliance
Canola oil is pressed from canola seed, a rapeseed variety bred in Canada to contain low levels of erucic acid and glucosinolates. The refined oil is light in color, neutral in taste and low in saturated fat. XRT Group supplies RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized) canola oil in bulk to food manufacturers, bottlers, bakeries and foodservice distributors.
What Defines Canola
By definition, canola oil contains less than 2% erucic acid in its fatty acid profile. This separates it from traditional high-erucic rapeseed oil used for industrial purposes. In USDA statistics, canola is counted within rapeseed oil, so market data is reported as rapeseed (including canola) oil. Food-grade refined canola is supplied to the Codex standard for named vegetable oils (CXS 210).
Quality & Testing
Refining removes free fatty acids, color bodies and odor compounds. Contract specifications typically cover free fatty acids, peroxide value, color, moisture and fatty acid profile. Intertek or SGS tests each lot at loading, and results are checked against the agreed specification before release.
Bulk Logistics
Bulk canola oil moves by ocean tanker for large parcels, or in 20-foot containers fitted with food-grade flexitanks. ISO tanks suit repeat deliveries into tank farms and plants. Supply is coordinated from Houston and Rotterdam, with FOB, CFR and CIF terms.
Pricing & Contracts
Canola oil prices move with canola seed values, which trade on ICE Canola futures, and with crush margins. Quotes are market-indexed and issued on request for the grade, format and delivery window. Contracts can follow FOSFA terms. All counterparties clear FATF-aligned AML and KYC screening, and letter of credit settlement under UCP 600 is available.
Applications
Frying and sautéing, bakery shortenings, salad dressings, mayonnaise, snack foods and ready meals.
